Fast Fix Fridays

{E86} Fast Fix Fridays #28 What do I need to prepare for my webinar?

In this week’s Q&A Friday, I answer a question I got asked about preparing for a webinar and what (if anything) you need to have on your website to be ready to do one.

Key Takeaways:

  • It’s important to have a follow-up strategy post-webinar
  • How will you continue to engage with your attendees once the webinar is over? Do you have an existing mailing list/opt-in offer?
  • What will you be offering on your webinar? Do you need to create a new service offering?
  • Does the content you are presenting tie back to your overall offerings?

{E77} Fast Fix Fridays #24 How long should my webinar be?

This is a question I get asked often by my Webinar Kickstart clients, how long should my webinar be? You’ll see a lot of industry experts saying you need 90 minutes of content but I know how daunting this can be especially when you are first starting out. So my answer?

Start small and work your way up! You don’t need to fill up time just for the sake of it, focus on value first. Not to mention, there are many moving parts involved in a webinar (content, technology, promotion) that you don’t need the added pressure the first time around to create a 90 minute presentation. Start small and the second time around you can make it longer and add more content.

{E73} Setting up your webinar for success

It’s solo show time and we’re talking all about webinars and how to ensure you are successful when you go live!

Key Takeaways:

  • Platform: Choose one and practice. Don’t obsess about the technology! There are many options: Google Hangouts On Air, Meeting Burner and Go To Webinar, to name a few.
  • Promotion: Aim for a minimum of a week because anymore and people tend to forget. If you are doing a Facebook campaign, budget for at least 3 days to see which ads get better traction and A/B testing.
  • Content: Remember it’s *not* an infomercial. Share your expertise and give your attendees a quick win that they can implement even if they don’t buy from you then and there.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice. Test your attendee experience: the landing page, the autoresponders and the buying sequence. It’s easy to miss something and send people the wrong link.

Celebrating One Year Of The Business Ignite Show With A Giveaway!

one yearIt’s hard to believe that it will be one year at the end of the month that the Business Ignite Show went live.

I remember when it was just an idea and something that I wanted to do for a really long time that eventually turned into my YESvember goal.

Last November 23rd, I hit publish on my first set of podcasts and got the much anticipated email from iTunes saying I was “in”. Woohoo!

One year later, and almost 70 episodes, I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to entrepreneurs from all over the world and sharing their brilliance, excitement and insights with you.

And I couldn’t have done it without you. The downloads, comments, emails, and social media shares all make it worth it.

To celebrate this milestone, I’m having a giveaway!

I’ll be giving one lucky winner my Webinar Kickstart service, where you get to work with me 1-1 to launch your first webinar. Why? Because I’ve seen first-hand how this has helped grow my business this year and I want more of you to step up and take advantage of webinars.

Step-By-Step:Private Google+ Hangouts

How To Record A Google+ Hangout Without Doing A Hangout On Air

So first off, you’re probably wondering why would you want to record a Google+ Hangout?

Well, in one of my mastermind groups we regularly do Google Hangouts on different business topics (list building, side-hustling etc) and just like webinars, not everyone can make it live.

Not to mention, Hangouts have limits to 10 people and therefore not all members can join live.

So, why not just do a Hangout On Air?

Because Thrive Hive Google Hangout sessions are for members only, so streaming live to Youtube is not really an option since we keep this content private.  We decided against using Webinar format since we like the face-to-face interaction as we are an online community and interacting “in-person” is great.

We could use Go To Meeting (and have in the past) but paying a monthly fee for something we weren’t going to use all the time wasn’t appealing.

Having fun with my mastermind group 🙂

How To Record a Google+ Hangout

There is no default way to hit record on your Google Hangout (yet) so:

Step 1:

To record a Hangout I use the software discussed in: How To Do Screencasts, in particular, Camtasia Studio.

I set up Camtasia with the Youtube preset:

And once everyone has joined the Hangout, I hit record.

Step 2:

Once the Hangout is complete, I open the recording in Camtasia and prepare the file to be exported to Youtube (and any editing that may be needed).

Step 3:

The final step is to upload to your Youtube channel.

Et voilà! The final product:

So as you can see, it is a 3 step process but it is pretty straightforward once you know how to use the recording software. And your only investment is the recording software which you can use to create all kinds of content in your business.

Do you use Google Hangouts in your business? I’d love to hear how you are using them! Leave me a comment below.
